Ready to glow from the inside out? You’re about to have your own spa experience at home and level up your skincare routine. I’m gonna show you how to make a matcha facial steam. Sounds fancy, right?
This DIY skincare ritual not only soothes and refreshes but also makes your skin look incredible. If you’re looking for an affordable way to pamper yourself at home, this right here is it. Get ready for maximum relaxation, freshness, and that perfect glow.
Not sure what all this is? Let me break it down.
What’s a facial steam, and why is it good for your skin?
A facial steam is really what it sounds like. You place your face above a bowl and let the steam of hot water and herbs or essential oils open up your pores, remove toxins, and leave your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Think of it as a mini spa treatment right at home.
Let’s dive deeper:
-
Detoxify and refresh: the hot steam helps loosen dirt, oil, and impurities in your skin, giving you a deep cleanse without scrubbing
-
As a result, this can also help prevent acne!
-
Boost circulation: it is said that the steam opens up your pores, allowing for better blood circulation and bringing more oxygen to your skin, helping it look more radiant
-
Hydrate: quite obvious, this one… if your skin is hydrated, it’ll look healthier and stronger
-
Improve your skincare: doing your usual routine after a facial steam is great because your skin can absorb the products much more easily
And why add matcha? If you still don’t know, matcha tea powder is packed with antioxidants, which makes it the perfect addition to your skincare routine.
-
Antioxidants: they fight free radicals, calm inflammation, and protect your skin from environmental stressors
-
Anti-inflammatory properties: helping reduce redness and irritation
What you’ll need
-
1 tbsp Matcha DNA’s organic matcha powder
-
3-4 drops lavender essential oil (soothing, calming, and perfect for your skin)
-
3-4 drops tea tree essential oil (excellent for acne-prone skin and skin clarity)
-
4 cups hot water (the base of it all)
Step-by-step instructions
-
Heat the water: Boil 4 cups of water, then remove from the heat. We want it hot, but not so hot that it’ll burn your skin.
-
Whisk in the matcha: Add the matcha powder to the hot water, and use a whisk or spoon to mix it in until it’s fully dissolved.
-
Add the essential oils: Drop in 3-4 drops of lavender essential oil and 3-4 drops of tea tree oil. Can you smell it? It’s already giving spa-vibes to me 🧖♀️. We’re getting a professional facial in our own home, baby!
-
Create your steam tent: Place your face about 10-12 inches above the bowl of hot water. You want to be close, but not so close that your skin gets burned, you know… Drape a towel over your head to trap the steam, and let the magic happen. Close your eyes, relax, and steam for 5-10 minutes.
-
Finish up: Once you’re done steaming, your skin will feel fresh and glowing. Follow up with your regular skincare routine to lock in all the goodness.
Easy, right?
And oh-so-heavenly. And as always, you can try to experiment by adding whichever essential oil you like, or even add some dried herbs like sage, rosemary, chamomile… they all have their specific benefits, and maybe it’s just what your skin needs 😌✨
