We all know matcha isn’t just for your latte: it’s a secret weapon for radiant skin. But, let’s be real: matcha beauty isn’t exactly a groundbreaking topic anymore.
But I keep getting surprised!! So here I am, sharing with you how to make a DIY green tea facial cream. Who would’ve thought it would be easy to do that, right? Like, moisturizers tend to have so many scientific ingredients that I honestly never imagined it would be possible.
So if you’re interested in natural skincare, or wanna play around with your matcha, let me get you in on the magic that blends matcha tea benefits with some seriously skin-loving ingredients.
First, the ingredients
This is what you’ll need to make this matcha face moisturizer, and a little bit on why they’re a match made in skincare heaven:
-
¼ cup coconut oil (moisturizes, nourishes, and leaves your skin extra soft).
-
3-4 cups of aloe vera gel (known for its soothing, hydrating, and refreshing properties).
-
20 drops of your favorite essential oils (for a personalized, incredible scent).
-
2-3 tsp Matcha DNA matcha powder (aka the star of the show, ofc, since it’s packed with antioxidants and gives you a natural, radiant glow).
Now let’s get to it
-
Melt the coconut oil: Place it in a medium bowl and use a double boiler to melt it completely. This will help you mix the matcha more easily.
-
Scoop in the matcha: Add the matcha powder and stir continuously until it’s fully dissolved.
-
Smooth it out: Sift the matcha-infused oil using a fine sieve to remove any lumps. No need to explain that we need to do this to get that nice, smooth texture that’s super important for an even application later on.
-
Combine and customize: Pour in the aloe vera gel and add 20 drops of your chosen essential oil. I used lavender, but you can play around with it!
-
Stir, stir, stir: Until the mixture achieves the consistency of a facial cream. Now this is when I was blown away!! Feel free to adjust the amount of aloe vera you put in if you prefer a thicker or lighter texture.
-
Chill for perfection: Transfer your mixture into a sterilized jar and place it in the fridge. Chilling the cream not only maintains its ideal consistency but also offers a refreshing, cooling sensation when you put it on.
