Craving something sweet but also feeling adventurous? How about adding a twist to your classic brownies with the earthy goodness of matcha? (Is that adventurous enough at this point? Anyway…)
These chewy matcha brownies are not your average dessert, they’re the love child of classic comfort and trendy. They’re ridiculously easy to make, and deliver the perfect balance of rich, indulgent flavor and that vibrant green matcha kick you well know by now that I love. Trust me, you’ll be wanting to make these every weekend.
Ingredients you’ll need
-
½ cup unsalted butter
-
½ cup white chocolate
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
2 eggs
-
2 tbsp Matcha DNA’s organic matcha powder
-
1 tbsp vanilla extract
-
¾ cup all-purpose flour
-
½ tsp salt
Step-by-step instructions to make your matcha brownies
-
Get preppin’: Preheat the oven to 350 °F and line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
-
Melt the butter and white chocolate: Grab a bowl that you can put in the microwave and throw in your butter and white chocolate chips. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between, until it’s all melted and looking glossy. You could also do the double-boiler method if you’re feeling fancy. Let it cool just a little bit.
-
Mix the sugar and wet ingredients: Pour the melted butter and white chocolate mixture into a larger bowl, and add your sugar. Stir it up until it’s thick and combined.
-
Add the flavor: Crack in your eggs, add the yummy matcha powder (sifted will be better), and stir in the vanilla extract. Keep mixing until it’s smooth and lovely green.
-
Add the dry ingredients: Gently fold in the flour and the salt (important for that balanced flavor we want to achieve!). Mix it just enough so that everything is well incorporated, and you don’t see any dry bits. No need to overdo it, we want chewy, not tough.
-
Spread the love and bake: Pour the batter into your prepared pan and spread it out evenly before popping it into your pre-heated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
-
Cool down: Let the brownies chill in the pan for about 1 hour. The longer they cool, the chewier and more delicious they get (I know it’s hard to wait, but it’s so worth it).
-
Cut and devour: Once they’ve cooled completely, lift them out with the parchment paper, slice them into squares, and enjoy!
Pretty easy, right?
There you have it: delicious, chewy matcha brownies that are as easy to make as they are to devour. Can’t hide the fact that I ate the whole pan with a couple of friends in under three hours of girl yap. Honestly? The best kind of plan there is.
With a simple blend of butter, white chocolate, and that beautiful matcha powder, you’ve created something that’s both familiar and exciting. Plus, the chewy texture and vibrant green color make these brownies perfect for an aesthetic pic.
