Okay, I know I might be a little late to the party over here, but at this point we’re all well aware of the Dubai chocolate bar craze that’s taking over. Supermarkets selling out in hours, TikTok exploding with reaction videos, recipes, ASMRs… And even making it on Starbucks’ matcha latte options. You know it.
Similarly to the chocolate bar, the Dubai chocolate matcha latte is the ultimate drink that everyone is talking about. Because, tbh, combining rich chocolate, pistachio and matcha sounds incredibly irresistible. So, obviously, as your matcha latte guru, I had to try and make it at home so that you don’t need to wait in line to get your hands on this beauty. Or pay big money for it.
So even though I actually tried this a few weeks back (and shared it on our socials, btw), here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Ingredients
-
1 scoop MatchaDNA matcha powder
-
2 oz hot water
-
A few pistachios (for that creamy pistachio goodness)
-
Sweetener (whichever you usually use, sugar, honey, agave…)
-
2 oz dark chocolate
-
1 cup of the milk of your choice (almond, oat, or good ol’ dairy, you do you)
-
Optional toppings: why not finish it up with whipped cream and a drizzle of melted chocolate to make it pop even more?
How to prep
-
Prepare your matcha: Start by adding your matcha powder into a bowl. Pour in the hot water, and whisk until it’s frothy and smooth. Make sure there are no clumps!
-
Make the pistachio cream: Yeah, you could just put store-bought pistachio syrup like most people do, but it’s really not that complicated to make your own version of it. And I assume it’s also much healthier, because you know exactly what you’re putting in it. So get a blender, add a few pistachios, a splash of water, and your sweetener of choice (just eyeball it and have fun with it). You should end up with a thick, rich pistachio cream. Make sure to taste test and adjust so that it’s just how you like it.
-
Melt the dark chocolate: Melt the 2 oz of dark chocolate in the microwave with a little bit of milk to get a creamier consistency. I recommend doing so in 30 second intervals and stirring occasionally until it’s silky smooth and delicious.
-
Assemble your drink: Grab your prettiest cup (what’s a fun drink without a fun cup?), and start by layering the pistachio cream at the bottom. Pour in the milk of your choice, followed by the matcha, and finish off with the melted chocolate.
Want to take it up a notch? Feel free to top it with whipped cream and another drizzle of chocolate.
That’s all, bb.
If you’ve reached this point, and followed the steps, you’ll hopefully have your yummy and pretty Dubai chocolate matcha latte in front of you. So go ahead, snap a pic (important step!), and take a sip. Honestly, the flavor combination is heavenly. I get why it’s driving the internet crazy.
And, obviously, the good thing about making these drinks yourself is that they’re all about creativity and having fun. So don’t be afraid to make it your own, try different proportions, add a sprinkle of crushed pistachios… whatever you can think of.
