You can customize the sweetness, experiment with flavors, and make it look aesthetic AF (because if you don’t snap a pic, did it even happen?). And I promise it’s not that hard.
Not to mention, matcha tea powder is packed with antioxidants and gives you that smooth energy boost without the caffeine crash. Plus, the chewy tapioca pearls? Pure fun in every sip.
So, let me show you how to make it and get ready for your new go-to matcha tea recipe.
Ingredients you need
This is for two servings, so call your bestie and invite her over for this treat ;)
-
1 scoop Matcha DNA (the best matcha powder for a smooth, non-bitter taste)
-
2 oz hot water
-
½ cup tapioca pearls (you can buy these easily on Amazon)
-
4 cups water (for cooking the boba)
-
2 tbsp maple syrup or honey (for that perfect sweetness)
-
2 cups milk (oat, almond, coconut… you do you!)
-
Plenty of ice (because a cold matcha just hits different)
How to make it: step-by-step guide
-
Prepare the matcha base: Add the matcha powder to 2 oz of hot water. Whisk it up until frothy (think matcha cloud foam) and set aside.
-
Cook the boba pearls: In a pot, bring water to a boil, and then add the tapioca pearls. Stir frequently to avoid them sticking to the bottom. Tbh, just follow the instructions on the packaging and you’ll be good to go. You’ll know they’re ready when they’re floating around. Drain them and put them in a bowl.
-
Sweeten to taste: Add the maple syrup or honey to the tapioca pearls, mix well and let them marinate for at least 5 minutes (this makes them extra flavorful, sweet and chewy).
-
Assemble your bubble tea: Divide the sweetened boba pearls into two glasses, fill them with ice, and pour in the milk of your choice. Gently pour the matcha you prepared earlier and enjoy that lovely green color gradient (I love this part, ngl). Use a wide straw, snap a pic, and sip away!!

You can customize it and make it your own: adjust the sweetness, switch up the milk, and even add flavored boba (mango, lychee, or taro, omg yes, please).
-
It’s cheaper than your fave boba shop: I think this one is quite clear. Let’s face it, these drinks are usually quite overpriced. And one bag of our organic matcha powder lasts you forever.
