the cozy September glow-up
September hits different. It’s September 1st and suddenly the air gets a little crisper, we switch our summer playlist for moodier music, and we’re all craving warm and cozy drinks in our hands. IYKYK.
Well, I’m that girl. So yes, it’s my time to go crazy with yummy fall drinks to make me think that Halloween’s around the corner, Thanksgiving pie is closer than ever, and Christmas is coming. Enter the white chocolate matcha latte: a comfort drink with main character energy.
Why it slaps, you ask?
-
The creamy sweetness of melted white chocolate
-
The earthy, slightly grassy vibe of matcha green tea
-
The ultimate balance of cozy + aesthetic
It’s giving café-core, it’s giving cozy vibes, it’s giving “I need to post this to my feed before I take a sip.” There are tons of ways to make it (TikTok is a deep hole for recipes), but this is how I tried it: super simple, super good, and guaranteed to satisfy your cravings.
ingredients you’ll need
This is for 2 lattes, so call your bestie and tell her we’re getting ready for fall.
Here’s the lineup:
-
2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based, whatever you want. imo? oat milk hits diff)
-
3 oz white chocolate, roughly chopped
-
1 pinch of salt (trust, it makes the flavors pop)
-
2 scoops Matcha DNA organic matcha tea powder
-
¼ cup hot water
✨ Quick note: as all other recipes I share here, this one is made to be flexible, and you can adapt it and make it your own. Want it richer? Add more white chocolate. Want it sweeter? Try adding additional chocolate syrup to your cup. Toppings? Go off with whipped cream, a dusting of matcha powder, or even edible glitter if you’re feeling it.
step-by-step: how to make your white chocolate matcha latte
Easy-peasy, here’s how to make it:
-
Melt the chocolate: In a small saucepan, heat the milk on low heat. Add the chopped white chocolate slowly, whisking constantly until smooth and completely melted. Stir in a pinch of salt to bring all the flavors together.
-
Whisk your matcha: In a small bowl, combine your 2 scoops of Matcha DNA matcha powder with ¼ cup hot water (not boiling, remember?). Whisk until frothy and lump-free.
-
Prep your cups: Get your cutest mugs or glasses (I’m personally team mug for warm lattes and glass cup for iced, but you do you). Divide your matcha into the two cups and set aside.
-
Froth it up: Get your white chocolate milk and blend it for a few minutes for some extra froth. You can also try using a frother to avoid getting more dishes dirty.
-
Bring it all together: Pour in your frothy milk into the matcha. Stir, snap your pic, and sip. Extra credit? Add whipped cream or a dusting of the best matcha powder on top.
keep the matcha fun going
And there you have it: the white chocolate matcha latte, aka the start of your September mood in a cup. Creamy, cozy, and just the right amount of extra.
