Matcha + coffee = your new drink obsession

Matcha + coffee = your new drink obsession

I’ve already mentioned someday that I used to be a coffee-lover through and through. The smell, the boldness, the warmth. But I would drink like three cups a day, and that was not cute. The jitters. The 3 PM crashes. The why am I anxious for no reason? vibes. Enter: matcha green tea. Yup, I made the switch for that smooth energy, no crash, and that gorgeous green hue that made my morning cup 1000x more aesthetic.

I don’t regret it at all. And you already know I’m hella obsessed with matcha now. Yup, no turning back, girl.

Still, some days, that deep espresso kick just hits different. And that’s where the dirty matcha latte (a.k.a. matcha coffee latte) comes in: a dreamy fusion of matcha’s earthy calm and coffee’s bold intensity. Why should I choose, right?

If you’ve never thought about mixing these two, buckle up. This is about to be your new go-to drink.

Matcha + coffee? Sounds wild, but it’s a match(a) made in heaven

Think of it as the ultimate power couple:

  • Matcha green tea brings the smooth, earthy calm. Its L-theanine slows caffeine absorption, giving you long-lasting focus without the spikes.

  • Espresso adds that bold, rich kick. The fast-acting caffeine wakes you up instantly, making it the perfect quick boost.

  • No more caffeine crashes. Matcha’s superpower, it releases energy slowly and balances out coffee’s quick hit, keeping you alert and steady for hours.

Plus, look at it. That green-to-brown ombré? A total chef’s kiss moment for your feed.

What you’ll need

  • 1 scoop (1.5g) of Matcha DNA’s matcha powder (I’m totally biased, but I think it’s the best matcha green tea powder out there)

  • 2 oz hot water

  • ¾ cup milk (oat, almond, or dairy, whatever you want)

  • 1 shot of espresso

  • Optional: 1 pump of vanilla syrup (because I love a little sweet treat)

Step-by-step instructions

There’s really no mystery here. Make matcha. Make the espresso. Combine with milk. Done.

  1. Make the matcha: Add 1 scoop of matcha tea powder to 2 oz of hot water. Whisk until frothy, and then set aside to let it cool.

  2. Ice, ice, baby: Fill your fave glass with ice. Yeah, we’re making it iced because it just tastes better, ok? Well I’m making it iced, you can make it hot if you want. But you’d be missing out a bit, ngl.

  3. Feeling extra? Add that pump of vanilla syrup or the sweetener of your choice.

  4. Pour it in: Add your whisked matcha over the ice, and then slooooowly pour the milk for that layered, ombré effect.

  5. Espresso time: Top it all off with your shot of espresso.

  6. Snap a pic & enjoy: Before you mix, take a pic (tag us!!). Then stir it up, sip, and let that deliciousness take overrrr.

That’s all, bestie
