make your own matcha green smoothie

Ever tried getting into the green smoothie train and failed terribly because you just couldn’t find a recipe that didn’t taste like spinach? It has taken me hundreds of recipes and hours of TikTok scrolling to find a version that I actually enjoy. And of course, I managed to bring matcha into the game.

Hear me out, because the matcha green smoothie I’m about to show you is creamy and sweet and will get any matcha-obsessed girly like me feeling super healthy and productive. One sip of this, and suddenly you’ll be the person who wakes up early, journals, and actually stretches before checking their phone. Well, it might take a bit more than that… but… you get the vibes.

Whether you’re blending one for a post-workout fix, a quick breakfast, or just to feel like the main character on a busy Tuesday, this drink has your back.

what you’ll need to make your matcha green smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana (for sweetness and creaminess)

  • ½ cup frozen mango chunks (for that tropical kick)

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant milk you love)

  • ½ cup canned coconut milk (adds richness and smooth texture)

  • 1 scoop Matcha DNA organic matcha powder

  • 1 tbsp almond butter (hello, protein and nutty flavor)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup baby spinach, packed (don’t worry, you won’t taste it)

  • 4–5 ice cubes

how to make it

  1. Whisk or blend the matcha first: Add your matcha powder and almond milk to a blender and blend for about 10 seconds until smooth and frothy. This helps avoid those little clumps that ruin the vibe. You could also prep this as you would for a matcha latte, in a bowl or cup with your frother.

  2. Add the rest of your ingredients (except the ice): Toss in the banana, mango, coconut milk, almond butter, vanilla, and spinach. Blend until everything’s creamy and the color is a dreamy, soft green.

  3. Now bring in the ice: Blend again for another 20 to 30 seconds, until it looks thick and milkshake-like. The texture should be smooth enough to sip but thick enough to feel satisfying.

    1. Make sure to taste test and adjust! Pro tip: if you want it a little sweeter, you can add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

  4. Serve and sip: Pour the smoothie into your cutest glass, stick in your most aesthetic straw, snap a pic (your friends deserve to see this), and enjoy!

other matcha smoothie combos worth trying

So listen, maybe not all green smoothies are yummy. But I feel like adding matcha is the key to making them much more enjoyable. Think about it! It’s an earthy taste that you’re already obsessed with, so it kind of helps cover up the taste of all the other greens you put in it.

Anyway, the possibilities are endless, and not all matcha smoothies have to have greens in them. Try a matcha + banana + strawberry mix for a classic, a matcha + pineapple + coconut mix for beachy vibes, or a matcha + peanut butter + oat milk combo for a dessert-like fix that still feels good for you.

The beauty of matcha is how well it plays with others. It’s your morning energy boost, your afternoon pick-me-up, and your excuse to turn breakfast into something that feels like self-care.
