Make your own matcha chocolate (a viral-worthy treat)

What if your chocolate bar could get a matcha-fueled glow up? White chocolate is already a creamy dream, but the flavor combo when you add in some matcha tea powder? Heavenly, sweet, earthy, and so aesthetic.

✨ why you need to try this matcha chocolate ✨

  • 2 ingredients. You heard that right.

  • Ready in minutes. Honestly, so easy, it even feels wrong to sell it as a “recipe”.

  • Aesthetic AF. Obviously, because of the lovely green matcha.

  • Perfect as a snack, a gift, or a flex. And you can have a lot of fun with it, too.

Let’s get to it.

Ingredients

The best matcha green tea powder + white chocolate = perfection.

  • 1 cup white chocolate (you can chop up a chocolate bar, use chips, or melting wafers)

  • 2 tsp Matcha DNA’s organic matcha powder

And why not add your own little extra touch? It’s so easy to make, you might as well play around with it, right?

  • Crushed freeze-dried strawberries for that pink & green aesthetic

  • A pinch of sea salt for a sweet-salty explosion

  • Chopped nuts for a little crunch

  • Edible gold flakes because why not?

How to make it

  1. Melt the chocolate: In the microwave, with 30-second intervals and stirring every time, until smooth. If you’re feeling fancy, you can also use the double boiler method (pro-level mode).

  2. Mix in the matcha: Sift the matcha powder into the melted chocolate (no clumps allowed). Stir with a spatula or whisk until you get that flawless green color.

  3. Mold it: Pour the mix into a chocolate bar mold. You can also use ice cube/candy molds for bite-sized treats (I got these butterfly-shaped ones on Amazon that are soooo cute).

  4. Chill it: Tap the mold on the table to remove air bubbles and refrigerate until set.

🌟 Tip: you should wait for the chocolate to come to room temperature before eating it to enjoy its silky texture.

Why not remix it?

You see how easy it is? I mean, we’re just melting chocolate and adding matcha. Can’t get easier than that. So yeah, this matcha tea recipe is just the start, and I most definitely encourage you to try things out to take it up a notch. Here are a few ideas while you’re at it (>ᴗ•)

  • DIY marble effect: swirl in some melted dark chocolate for a two-tone work of art.

  • Matcha chocolate dipped everything: instead of putting it on the chocolate mold, you can obviously use the mixture to coat strawberries, pretzels, or cookies. Hmmm or some cake pops too. Or whatever you can think of.

  • Drizzle over desserts: probably my favorite idea. I add this to everything I can think of: over pancakes, ice cream, brownies, as decoration for my lattesanything.
